Stories from home
Behind every loan is a business owner, a dream, and a corner of El Salvador you might remember. These are their stories — and the difference your support makes.
The stories below are illustrative examples with generated photos. They do not describe actual borrowers or verified results. Real stories and photos will be shared with permission.

Rosa
“The smell of pupusas on Sunday morning — that is my whole childhood.”
Rosa learned to make pupusas next to her grandmother's comal. With her share of a group loan she bought a bigger griddle and a second table. Now neighbors line up every evening, and she pays her group leader on time each week.

Carmen
“My mother sewed school uniforms for the whole barrio. Now it's my turn.”
Carmen used to borrow a neighbor's sewing machine. Her group loan bought her own, plus fabric for her first embroidered blouses. Four women in her group now sell together at the Sunday market.

Doña Tere
“Everyone on this street knows my tienda. I wanted it to never close.”
For 20 years Doña Tere's tienda was where kids bought dulces after school. When prices rose, her shelves emptied. Her group loan restocked them, and her repayments are already helping another group of women start out.
